The Nativity play we missionaries were in. (I case you can’t recognize…I am a wise man/person.) Our Mission President sent us missionaries this…I love it! “The greatest gift we can give to our Savior is the gift of the souls of the people we love and serve here. In Luke 15:7 Jesus taught, “I say unto you that…joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over the ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentence.”
It warms my heart to know that of all the gifts that could be given to the Savior, we have the privilege to be able to give to Him the gift that He would treasure most, the exaltation and eternal life of His children. Knowing what we know, is there anything else you would rather give to Him? Even though He seemingly has everything, there may be one thing that He doesn’t have yet. It is something that you actually have control of that isn’t determined by the agency of someone else. The thing that he doesn’t have is YOU with Him forever yet.
President Eyring has said, “I hope you are touched by the feeling of His heart enough to sense how much he wants to know that you are coming home. You can’t give that gift to Him in one day, or one Christmas, but you can show Him today that you are on the way.” We can show Him that we are on the way as we live fully consecrated lives as missionaries. You can do that as you study the scriptures, or kneel and pray. You do that as you attend the temple and live up to your covenants. If you are already doing this then look around and help other people that He also loves to be able to find their way home also. May each of you be willing to let Him know that you are coming home to Him one day soon and that you are also going to bring a few more of His children with you.”
LOVVVVVEE YOUUUU. Sister Winkler
My new companion is Sister H—–. She is awesome (and from Surprise Arizona). She has been out a little while. I am still senior companion…Shocker!hahaha She takes a while to process things. Sometimes I’ll ask her a question while we are in the car and it takes her 10 or more minutes to give me an answer. I feel a little like I am whitewashing. She is incredibly sweet though. She made me breakfast my first day here. She made French toast and I didn’t have the heart to tell her that I don’t like French toast…so I ate it all. She always wants to serve me. Can’t get much better of a companion than her.
My new ward is ghetto and I like it. I am back to the hilarious people of the South. It is so good. We saw this lady while finding and she was having a tough time with her marriage. I end up meeting a lot of sisters going through tough situations. It’s pretty great they were out in their path so we could meet them. I’ve been thinking back on my patriarchal blessing this week. It specifically says that I have been given a gift to associate with people. I am working on developing those gifts and I have come to find some qualities I didn’t know I had. I do miss my last area though. The Ward there is Celestial and coming to this…it’s so different. There are lots of less actives to work with. About 2/3rds of our Ward is less active. It’s crazy! I have met only one investigator so far. All in all an amazing week.
Look forward to skyping and seeing ya’ll and Grandpa and Auntie Deb come Christmas Day! Love Youuuu Sister Winkler
Hi family! Transfers were this week and I am being transferred to Orange Park (1st Ward). It is right outside of Jacksonville Florida. I am really sad to be leaving. There is so much work to do here and I just want to stay here and see the miracles happen. But I will accept it as His will. My trainer, Sister Kasteler will be coming here! That makes me feel better about the whole thing. My new companion is going to be Sister H——.
I got the Christmas package this week! Thanks! I will be taking it to transfers. I hope it will fit in the car!
We had a really good week and I have learned so much here in this area and I am going to miss the amazing people that I have met. I love each of you and I know that prayer works and that God hears each of us.
Hope you get to see the “Meet The Mormons Movie” while it is in Calgary. Lots of love, Sister Winkler
Had a good week. I finished reading Genesis. I love the Bible. Reading daily is the biggest blessing. We had a really awesome Sunday this past week. It was all about fasting and fast offering. Testimony strengthening.
I am so sorry this is a short email. Some sisters in the zone wanted me to cut their hair and it took up most of my email time. Just know I love you and I am safe. Sister Winkler
