LOVE YOU LOTS! Thank you for your uplifting words…

Hey Ya’ll!  Florida is awesome.  I would send you a picture of our district but we can’t upload anything on the library computers.  I’ll tell you this tidbit…It is something I have never seen before…there are crazy chickens here that climb trees!

It has been kinda rainy lately but good!  We had a “Fall Festival” in our Ward this past week and there were lots of inactive member and investigators there.  Sister Kasteler and I got to give one of our investigators a church tour and it was pretty cool.  He brought his friend that he is teaching the guitar to, so we got to share with him too.  Sister Kasteler luckily knew where everything was and the Spirit was definitely there.

We had a “Chili Cook off” at the Fall Festival and that was cool too.  We took a picture at the end with Sister Stratton, (she is like our mom in the ward) Sister Kasteler and I.  This little black boy got in the photo with us and right before taking the photo his little cousin Mikyra walks up and she is like,”Ooooooo you are taking a picture with white people.”  hahaha So funny.  She was one of the investigators daughters and we got to talk with her a bit too.  She is super sassy, but it is cute.

I ate grits for the first time in my life!  It is a staple here.  They are delicious!  Sister, you ask, “What is the most exciting thing…?”  Maybe going to this Filipino lady’s house and eating crazy food. hahaha That’s right, have faith in me.  We work out every morning for 45 minutes.  I am so happy about that. Sometimes people feed us too well!

There is a road here that divides the town and the one side is called, “the dark side” because there are many black persons there.  Sister Kasteler and I are doing trade offs tonight at 6:00 with our Sister Training Leaders and I am kinda nervous.  I am staying here which means, I need to remember where everyone lives and actually know who we teach and direct the lesson for the most part.  We will see how that goes.  We have a less active sister feeding us tonight and I know her pretty well so it should be just fine.

We have been teaching one of our main investigators about the Word of Wisdom and we are going too fast for him to give up his addictions.

He is super willing to quit smoking and all that, but we aren’t sure if he is being 100% with us.  I guess time will tell.  He is working towards a baptismal date.

People seemed to disappear for a week!!  Now they are back and responding to their phone messages.  All and all life is good here.  Miracles happen every day.  Read this scripture in 2 Nephi 32: 1-5.  It is a great scripture.  Mission Conference is coming up soon!  Elder Zwick is coming to our Mission.  Sister Kasteler and I are giving a 5 minute training there on a topic we choose.

I love you, love you, love you lots.  Thank you for your uplifting words. Please send that to everyone…. Before I forget, my new address is: 638 SW Dexter Circle Apartment #205 Lake City Florida USA 32025

“Oh, I have already been saved. Try that house over there…”

Hey Ya’ll: (That’s how they say it here.)

I feel like I am in the jungle here.  It is very green and there is lots of wild life.  When we go for our morning walks there are roosters crowing like crazy!!

This is a photo of Sister Craig and I and Mission President Craig my first day from the MTC to Jacksonville Florida.  My companion, Sister Kasteler and I are in this next photo.

So now the story…Me and my new companion get along just fine.  She has only been out in the mission for 6 weeks!!  So it is kinda the blind leading the blind.  Just kidding…She knows what to do but we are both open to suggestions.  We are struggling to find people to teach right now.  We are teaching lots of less active members and trying to get referrals from members.  We are being very obedient and trying to use all the guidelines our mission president has given us.  The first night we got to Florida we were billeted out to church members.  Sister McPhee and I went to one home.  This house was super shady though and really gave us the creeps.  The shower was insecure and didn’t seem safe.  We prayed lots that night.  But we lived and it was an experience.  hahaha.  I wish I could talk and explain these things, but this will have to do.

The area we are serving in is pretty poor and kinda shady.  We were having a discussion with Calvin, (he sits out on his porch and smokes while we teach him,) and he was saying, “I say ya’ll over on the other side of the tracks (there is a train that runs through the town), I don’t even go over thar, ya’ll are crazy.  Watch yourselves.” hahaha  We are definately in the hood.  It is a lot different here than in Canada.  EVERYONE has an accent and the area we serve in is kinda like the getto or something.  I have killed 6 cockroaches so far, 3 in the kitchen, 1 in the bathroom, one in the car and one in my bed!  They gross me out.  We did some service last week for a lady in the ward and there were about 20 among her things.  They were all dead.

It is difficult sharing the gospel here because everyone says, “Oh, I have already been saved.  Try that house over there.”  It’s hard to tell them, “No, you haven’t.”  Especially when you’re right there on their doorstep.

We got the Elders to come over and give Betty, our main investigator a blessing for her health.  It was really awesome.  Betty has a baptismal date, but she has many health issues and keeps not being able to make it to church.  She is very kind and speaks her mind.

I got Sister Turner’s and the Comfort’s mail “stuff” as well as the “stuff” you sent.  Thank you to all for everything. The article in the New Era for this month quote you sent, “We set goals to show our faith and we follow up on goals to count our blessings.”  Good stuff.  Computer time is up.  They changed the mission rules, we now get 60 minutes to read and reply to emails!  Boom.  No more excuses Clifton give us some of the good info…I love you all sooooo much.

They call me SISTER WINKLER and The MTC is crazy AWESOME…

Hey Ya’ll:

The MTC is crazy awesome.  It is crazy how much you can learn!  They say people gain weight.  I don’t really see how you could. hahaha.  The sisters and elders in my district and zone are really amazing.  All us sisters are super cool and get along really well.  I’ll include a picture of us in front of the Provo Temple.

We are living on West campus.  THE SAME ONE AS MALIA (Sister Sooaemalelagi) woot woot.  I saw her like the first day I got here and we both started crying for the first time that day.  (Photo with friends.)

Sister Alveraz and I shared the gospel…well somewhat…with a girl on our flight here from Calgary.  We told her to go to hahaha

I am only in the MTC for 6 more days.  I leave the 15th of October for Jacksonville Florida at like 2:30am.  Isn’t that like crazy soon????

A lot of the Sisters and Elders in my zone have western drawls like they grew up on a farm or something. hahahaha  They speak with an accent and they all say I have an accent. hahahaha  So funny.  I’m always like, nope.  We are all headed for Florida.  It is super awesome cause we will most likely see each other after leaving the MTC!  One of the Elders in my district comes up to Calgary sometimes to sell cattle.

My first companion is Sister Hawkins and she is way cool.  She played basketball at Walla Walla Washington and lives on a ranch in Oregon.  She is my favorite companion so far.  I really hope the rest of them are a good as her.  We are  being obedient and trying to teach by the Spirit.  We have become really good friends now.  We are super sleepy at the end of Angelina_IMG_1400

the day, but somehow we end up just talking.  She was having a rough time just like we all were this first week.  Her and her family are super tight and she missed them.  Lately she has been feeling a lot better.  Her family sends her a TON of food.  We got homemade brownies the other day from her aunt in Utah.  Way cool.

We got to watch General Conference up at the main MTC campus which is like a 30 minute walk.  Saturday and Sunday Conference were awesome but super rough on our butts.  We were just sitting like all day. There was a Dube guy from the Quorum of the Seventy at Conference.  His talk was my favorite along with the whole Sunday morning session.  It was packed with greatness!

We had a Sunday Night Devotional after Conference and it was VOCAL POINT!  I know Mom loves them and the rest of you know who they are, but it was sweet.  A real change up from all the other things we had been watching before.

We had a Devotional Monday night.  John M. Madsen came to speak along with his wife Diane.  They were great.  They talked mostly about how the Atonement of Christ IS THE gospel or the “good news” we bring to people. Not part of the gospel.  IT IS THE GOSPEL.  So awesome.

Please tell brother that we are hearing from his companions and friends about his hard work and baptisms, but he needs to remember to send us that news in his emails home.  Really, I love you a lot and think of you every time I pray.  I feel drained after every day but I always wake up ready to do more somehow.  It must be because of all the people praying for the missionaries.  I love, love, love you.
